Giannis Negrepontis

Giannis Negrepontis was born in Larissa in 1930. He studied History and Archaeology at the School of Philosophy of the University of Athens and theater at the Drama School of the Athens Conservatory. He was a leftist. On April 21, 1967, he was arrested and exiled for three years to Gyaros and Leros. He engaged in and excelled at all forms of written expression: poetry, prose, theater, song, criticism, essays, chronicles, satire, humor writing, children's literature, and radio commentary. He made his literary debut in 1949 by publishing a short story in the magazine "Elliniki Dimiourgia," edited by Spyros Melas, under the pseudonym G. Nikolaou. His songs have been set to music by Mikis Theodorakis, Christos Leontis, Linos Kokotos, and others. He passed away in September 1991.
