
Dimitris CHristodoulou
Dimitris Christodoulou was born in Athens. He graduated from the Drama School of the National Theatre and attended courses in the Department of Economics at Panteion University. During the German occupation, he became a member of the National Liberation Front (EAM), and in 1944 he was detained by the British at the El Daba camp in Egypt. During the April dictatorship, he lived in self-exile in Paris. He made his literary debut in 1952 with the publication of the poem "Night Watchmen" in the magazine "Macedonian Letters," and in 1954, his first poetry collection of the same name was released. He also engaged in prose, theater, and songwriting. His works have been translated into English, French, Dutch, and Swedish. Composers such as Mikis Theodorakis, Nikos Mamangakis, Giorgos Zampetas, Manos Loizos, Christos Leontis, and Notis Mavroudis have set his lyrics to music.
