Dominique Manotti

Dominique Manotti was born in Paris in 1942. She holds an agrégation in history and is an associate professor of modern economic history at the University of Paris VIII. She was actively involved in the Algerian independence movement as well as the trade union movement and served as an executive member of the CFDT. She writes: "I turned to writing novels when the election of François Mitterrand essentially marked the end of hope for a radical transformation of society. The noir novel seems to be the most suitable form for narrating the experiences of my generation; and I used my historical knowledge as the most appropriate tool for crafting the narrative." In 2002, she was awarded the Grand Prix for Noir Fiction for her book "Nos fantastiques années fric," and in 2011, she received the Grand Prix for Detective Literature for "Honorable Company."
