Patrick Rothfuss

American author Patrick Rothfuss was born in 1973 in Madison, Wisconsin, and studied at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and Washington State University. In 2002, he was honored with the Writers of the Future award for his short story "The Road to Levinshir," which is set in the fantasy world of "The Kingkiller Chronicle," the series that brought him fame. The first book in the series, titled "The Name of the Wind," won the 2007 Quill Award, was included in Publishers Weekly's list of the year's best books, and received rave reviews from critics, readers, and notable figures in the field such as Ursula LeGuin, George R.R. Martin, Orson Scott Card, Anne McCaffrey, among others. In 2011, the second book in the series, titled "The Wise Man's Fear," topped the New York Times bestseller list. Currently, Rothfuss is working on the third and final book of "The Kingkiller Chronicle" series.
