Antonis Antoniou
Born in Athens, he studied Physics at the University of Athens, completed postgraduate studies (D.E.A.) in Electrical Engineering, and holds a Ph.D. in Electronics - Electrical Engineering - Automation. He is a professor in the Department of Computer Systems at the Piraeus University of Applied Sciences, in the School of Technological Applications (STEF). Administrative Experience: In 1981, 1982, and 1984, he served as Head of the Electronics Department, and in 1983 as Director of ASTEM. From 1987 to 1997, he was responsible for the Microelectronics Unit, and since 1997, he has been the Head of the Computer Systems Department at the Piraeus University of Applied Sciences. Since 1994, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY). He is an authorized advisor representing IKY on the Erasmus committee, in the Community Support Framework, in the Academic Cooperation Association (A.C.A.), and a member of the Workgroup for Western Europe, particularly on issues of internationalization of education. Training: He has attended four specialized programs on technological development and education, and two on Administration of International Education and Quality Assessment and Assurance in Higher Education. Conferences: He has participated in 17 international conferences as a speaker, as the person responsible for the scientific program's secretariat, or as chairman or member of the organizing committee. He has also authored nine educational books and has made over 22 publications and presentations in thesis projects.
