Georgios D. Poukamisas

Georgios D. Poukamisas was born in Piraeus in 1954. He attended secondary school at the Ionideios School there. He is a graduate of the Law School of the University of Athens and holds a diploma from the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna. In 1981, he joined the state's diplomatic service. He has served at the Permanent Representation of Greece to NATO, in Libya, and at the embassies in Washington and Nicosia. He is a member of the National Gymnastics Association, the Archaeological Society, and the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS). He served as president of the Association of Friends of Classical Athletics (1984-1985) and the Union of Diplomatic Officers (2007). He has authored the monograph "Cyrene" (1994), as well as essay collections "Texts of History and Culture" (1998) and "Dialog cu Istoria" (Bucharest, 2009). He is currently the Ambassador of Greece in Bucharest.
