Orsalia-Eleni Kassaveti was born in Athens and studied Greek Philology at the University of Athens. She completed postgraduate studies in Cultural Studies (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens), in History and its teaching (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Department of Primary Education, specialization: Folklore and Culture), and conducted her doctoral dissertation in the Department of Communication and Media Studies on the video culture of the 1980s. Her writing includes the monograph "The Greek Video Film (1985-1990). Genre, Social, and Cultural Dimensions" (Athens: Asini, 2014) and contributions to Greek and international collective volumes and scientific journals. Her academic interests focus on Cultural Studies, popular culture (cinema, television, music), folk culture, the theory of popular film genres, and Visual Ethnography. She has conducted postdoctoral research in the Department of Journalism and Mass Media at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Patras and collaborates as a researcher with the Department of Primary Education. She is a lecturer in the Department of Journalism and Mass Media at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a member of the Academic Staff at the Hellenic Open University.
