
Kornilia Tsevik - Baivertian
Cornelia Tsevik-Baivertian was born and lives in Istanbul. She has been a philologist at the Zappeion School of Constantinople since 1993. She taught in the Department of Modern Greek Language and Literature at the University of the City (2004-2008). She completed her doctoral dissertation at the Department of Primary Education of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She translated Antonis Samarakis's "Hope Wanted" into Turkish (1991). Her first book, "The Leaps," was published by Ekdotiki Athinon (1995). Her dissertation, titled "The Language Issue in Istanbul: Discourse and Counter-Discourse in the Newspaper 'The Courier'," was published by Tsoukatos Editions (2008). She participated in conferences on "Teaching the Greek Language" and "Education in Constantinople." She translated the poetry collection "Behind the Curtain" by philosophy professor Ioanna Koutsouradi into Turkish (2016). Since 2008, she has been involved in topics related to the history of education, women's emancipation, and "oral history." In the last five years, she has collaborated with the multicultural magazine "PAROS" (in Turkey) and the newspaper "O Politis" (in Greece), where she publishes the experiential testimonies of citizens in the series "Faces and People," traversing the 21st century. Some of these testimonies were published in a book titled "Constantinopolitan Portrait" (Tsoukatos, 2018). For her contributions and activities within the Greek community, she has been honored with numerous awards by the Greek community and the state. Her lectures, articles, travelogues, and poems have been published in the Greek media of New York and in the albums of various associations. She moved to Greece with her husband in 1996 and currently resides in Athens.
