Per Olov Enquist

Per Olov Enquist, born in 1934 in Sweden, is considered one of the country's most significant authors. He studied the history of literature in Uppsala and worked as a journalist for newspapers and television until 1976. He served as a visiting professor at UCLA and, since 2005, has been an honorary professor at the University of Oslo. His novels and plays have been translated into many languages. His works are characterized by a personal writing style closely related to journalistic investigation. His novels "The Legionnaires" (1978), "Downfall" (1985), and "Captain Nemo's Library" (1991) became international publishing successes. In Greece, his plays "From the Life of the Worms" (Mirrors, 1985), "The Night of the Tribades" (Municipal and Regional Theatre of Kalamata, 1989), and "The Hour of the Lynx" (Theatre of the South-Amore, 1993) have been performed, among others. He passed away on April 25, 2020, at the age of 85.
