THanasis Saltas

Thanasis Saltas was born in Piraeus on July 4, 1976. He pursued studies at the University of Piraeus in the Department of Financial and Banking Management and completed postgraduate studies at Nottingham Trent University in Business Administration as well as at the Athens University of Economics and Business in Human Resource Management. He has been involved in literature since 1996, when he made his first publications. He has attended courses in theater, writing, and scriptwriting. He has written theatrical texts, short stories, poetry collections, song lyrics, and scientific, artistic, and journalistic articles. He has won significant literary awards across all genres. Notably: - First Prize in a World Competition for Poetry, Short Story, Essay, and Theatrical Work for his piece "Distomo Then, Distomo Now..." from the Hellenic Cultural Association of Cypriots, at the House of Cyprus (Cypriot Embassy) (2013). - First Commendation for a Short Story in an International Competition from the Friends of Greek Culture Group in Stuttgart (2013). - First Prize for a Short Story in the 8th Panhellenic Competition of the Literary Writing Group IDEOPNOON-PNOES LOGOU & TECHNIS-IAMBOS ART for the short story "The Postman of Kyrenia" (2013). - First Prize for a Short Story in the Panhellenic Competition SIKELIANA for the short story "Ikaria" (1998). - First Prize for Lyrics in an International Song Competition held in Volos with artists from Greece, Europe, and Australia for the song "Murder" (2008). - Second Prize for a Short Story and Honorable Mention for Poetry for his works "Café Nostalgia" and "July 74" from the Spiritual Company of Limassol, Limassol (2013). He has also received numerous other accolades for his poems and song lyrics in Greece, such as being among the top 10 songs at the Nikola Asimos Festival, Kozani (2008) with the song "Rebirth," and second place in the Music Heaven 2012 competition with the song "Colors," among others. He has collaborated with significant cultural associations and artistic groups. Notably: - In 1998, he became a member of the Artistic Café of Ideas and Contemporary Greek Poets. - In 2001, he collaborated with the Pedagogical Institute of Theater "Theatromathia" in performances and theatrical events with NET as a communication sponsor. - In 2004, he released the work "Between Light and Rain" in the discography with his personal lyrics in collaboration with composer George Papadopoulos. - In 2006, he collaborated with the Artistic Group Melody Spirit, presenting the libretto "Painting." - In 2007, he became a member of the Korydallos Film Club of Cine-Paradisos and a member of the informal Cultural Committee of the Municipality of Korydallos. Since then, he has been conducting presentations and analyses of films and writing articles for the film magazine "Montage." - In 2011, he collaborated with a group of Visual Arts Educators (graduates of the School of Fine Arts) where he wrote lyrics based on their artworks, which were exhibited at the Municipal Art Gallery of Piraeus. This collaboration resulted in his latest poetry collection titled "Voices on Helicon," a poetry collection set to music by composer Chrysanthi Oikonomaki. Finally, in 2013, he released the fairy tale "The Garden of Joy and Sorrow," also set to music by composer Chrysanthi Oikonomaki. Since 2004, he has been a member of AEPI and since 2013 a member of OSDEL, while since 2008 he has been listed in the global encyclopedia of personalities Who is Who.
