Kostas Stoforos

Kostas Stoforos was born in 1924 in Kastellia, Phocis. He was the sixth of seven children. At just eight years old, he lost his father. His older brother, George, took on the responsibility for the family. His mother fell victim to the Occupation forces. While still a student, during the Occupation, he participated in the Resistance as a member of the Union of Young Fighters of Roumeli, which later merged into the United Panhellenic Organization of Youth (EPON). After the Liberation, he found himself in Athens. In 1947, while studying in his second year at the School of Dentistry, he was called to serve his military duty. His and his family's involvement in the Resistance had its consequences. He was sent to the front lines as a simple soldier. In January 1948, he took his last breath in Damaskinia, Kozani.
