
Giorgos Papadopoulos - Kypraios
Giorgos Papadopoulos - Kypraios was born in Akrounda, Cyprus, in May 1941. At the age of 15, he pledged allegiance to EOKA in its struggle against the British for the union of Cyprus with Greece. He studied Electronics in Athens on a scholarship and worked at the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (CYTA). In December 1966, he emigrated to Toronto, Canada, where he worked as an electronics technician. He attended the College of Education at the University of Toronto and was appointed as an electronics instructor at Danforth Technical School.
He moved to Athens in February 1974 and studied at the Law School of the University of Athens. He practiced law until March 1985. In 1978, he founded the publishing house Dioptra, which he has managed since 1985.
