
Ioannis Mazis
Professor I. Th. Mazis holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens. He is also a Doctor of Geography/Geopolitics, having completed his studies in Economic Geography with a four-year program at the Advanced Postgraduate Institute of Geography at Université Aix-Marseille II in Aix-en-Provence, France. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in London, a member of the International Society of Intercommunication of New Ideas (U.S.A.), a board member of the Greek Society for Economic History, Vice President of the Corfu Studies Society-Solomos Museum, a member of the Hellenic Geographical Society, a member of the Corfu Reading Society, a member of the Inter-University Center for the Recognition of Foreign Academic Titles (1994-2000), a Study Advisor at the National Defense School, and President of the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting at the Ionian University, which he has managed for 16 consecutive years. He has also been an ex officio member of the Governing Committee of the Ionian University for eight years to date. He has participated in and organized numerous international and Greek conferences on international relations, geopolitics, and geography, and has been appointed as a representative of the Greek side in significant phases of the Euro-Islamic dialogue. His writing covers specialized fields of Regional Development as well as Geopolitics, with a focus on the Geopolitics of the Middle East and the Southeastern Mediterranean. He is a leading expert in the Geopolitics of the Islamist Movement and its political-cultural manifestations in the international environment.
