A. A. Long

A. A. Long is an Emeritus Professor of Classics, the Irving G. Stone Professor of Literature, and a Professor of Philosophy and Rhetoric at the University of California, Berkeley. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the British Academy, as well as a member of the American Philosophical Society. In 2015, the University of Crete awarded him an honorary doctorate in philosophy. His extensive body of work includes titles such as "Hellenistic Philosophy. Stoics, Epicureans, Sceptics" (1974, Greek edition "Η ελληνιστική φιλοσοφία", MIET 1987), "The Hellenistic Philosophers", volumes 1-2 (1987), "Stoic Studies" (2001), "From Epicurus to Epictetus. Studies in Hellenistic and Roman Philosophy" (2006), "Seneca. Letters on Ethics" (2015), among others.
