
Kamila Shamsie
Kamila Shamsie was born in 1973 in Karachi, where she grew up. She studied creative writing at Hamilton College and completed her MFA at the University of Massachusetts. She has worked as a literary critic and columnist, primarily for The Guardian, and has served as a judge for several literary awards, including the Orange Award for New Writing and the Guardian First Book Award. She is also a member of the advisory board of the non-profit organization Index on Censorship. Her novels have been translated into many languages and have received numerous awards. "Home Fire" was awarded the Women’s Prize for Fiction and was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, the Costa First Novel Award, and the International Book of the Year 2018 at the Australian Book Industry Awards.
