Eric Schmidt

Eric Schmidt is the Executive Chairman of Google, which he joined in 2001. From 2001 to 2011, he served as the CEO of Google, overseeing the company's technical and business strategy alongside founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page. Dr. Schmidt was previously the Chairman and CEO of Novell and the Chief Technology Officer at Sun Microsystems, Inc., and he served on the research staff at Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), Bell Laboratories, and Zilog. He is a member of the U.S. President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, a member of the UK Prime Minister's Council for Science and Technology, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). He was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2006 and joined the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2007. He also chairs the board of the New America Foundation and has been a trustee of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey, since 2008. He resides in California.
