Meg Rosoff

Meg Rosoff was born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1956 to Jewish-American parents. She studied at Harvard University and Saint Martin’s School of Art in London, initially working in publishing and advertising. In 1989, at the age of 32, she settled permanently in London. Her first book for teenagers and young adults, "How I Live Now" (2004), was acclaimed on both sides of the Atlantic, winning the Guardian Children's Fiction Prize and the Michael L. Printz Award from the American Library Association. It was named the best book of the year for young people and was adapted into a film in 2013 by director Kevin MacDonald. This was followed by novels such as "Just in Case" (2006, Carnegie Medal and Jugendliteraturpreis), "What I Was" (2007), "The Bride’s Farewell" (2009, one of the top 10 books of the year in the Young Adult Fiction category), "Vamoose" (2010), "There’s No Dog" (2011), and "Picture Me Gone" (2013, a finalist for the American National Book Awards, published in Greek as "Μυστικά ή ψέματα" by Minos in 2014). She also authored illustrated children's books including "Meet Wild Boars" (2005), "Wild Boars Cook" (2007), and "Jumpy Jack and Googily" (2007), in collaboration with illustrator Sophie Blackall. In 2016, she was honored by the Swedish Arts Council with the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award for her entire body of work.
