Klara Zacharaki - Georgiou

Klara Zacharaki-Georgiou was born on the island of Leros and raised in Athens. She studied painting and set design at the Athens School of Fine Arts. With postgraduate studies at the University of Paris VIII, she holds a Maitrise degree in set design. Since 1963, she has been living in Cyprus, and from 1967 to 1993, she taught art in secondary schools. She has showcased her work in fourteen solo painting exhibitions in Cyprus and abroad, and has participated in numerous group exhibitions. She designed the coins of the Republic of Cyprus. In 2007, she was honored with the Teucer Anthias-Theodosis Pierides Award for Cultural Contribution by the Central Committee of AKEL. She was also recognized by the Cyprus Centre of the International Theatre Institute for her contributions to Cypriot theatre.
