Michael Wood

Michael Wood is the pen name of Charles Barnwell Straut. He was born in Lincoln, England, and studied at the University of Cambridge. He served as a research fellow at St. John's College, Cambridge, and taught at Columbia University in New York and the University of Exeter in England. Currently, he is a professor of English and Comparative Literature at Princeton University. The author of six books, he recently published a monograph on Luis Buñuel's film "Belle de Jour." He is a regular contributor to the literary reviews "The New York Review of Books" and "The London Review of Books." He resides in Princeton, New Jersey, USA.
