David Grossman

David Grossman was born in 1954 in Jerusalem. He studied philosophy and dramaturgy at the university in his hometown and began his career writing children's programs for Israel's public radio. His novels and political essays have been translated into over thirty languages. In 2006, while he was working on "To the End of the Land," his son Uri was killed in combat on the Israel-Lebanon border. The book, considered his masterpiece, is dedicated to his memory. He has been honored both in his country and internationally with numerous accolades and awards, most recently the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade, awarded to him during the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2010. In 2017, he received the International Booker Prize for his work "A Horse Walks into a Bar." As a writer and intellectual, he is one of Israel's most renowned voices for peace, alongside Oz and Yehoshua.
