Lia Megalou - Seferiadi

Lia Megalou-Seferiadi was born in Thessaloniki in 1945. In 1965, she moved to Athens, where she has lived ever since. Her literary debut came in 1966 in Angelos Terzakis's magazine "Epoches" with the short story "Eleven Letters and a Postscript." This was followed by publications of prose and poetry in magazines and collective editions. In 1972, her first book, a poetry collection titled "The Fugitive in the Tree," was published. Since then, she has published sixteen more books, most of which are novels. Her poems and prose have been translated into various foreign languages. She has also worked on translating books herself, primarily in the socio-political genre. In 2001, she was awarded the Ipekci Prize for her novel "Like Silk" (Kastaniotis Editions, 1996).
