Katerina Zontanou

Katerina Zontanou
Katerina Zontanou was born in a small village and studied in a big city. She now lives in a state that is neither too big nor too small, just medium-sized. From her house, she can see a mountain called Kalathi, which looks a bit like a basket, but upside down. There is also the sea nearby (half an hour on foot and seven and a half minutes by bicycle—she doesn’t know how long it would take by spaceship, because she hasn’t had time to measure it). She likes spinach rice, walking, and chocolate. She bites her nails, enjoys drawing and solving math puzzles. War makes her angry (as do other monstrous things people do), but she finds comfort in thinking that, since war makes all the children in the world sad, when they grow up, none of them will want to go to war, and then—ha!—war will be defeated.Other than that, every day she does what most of you do—lessons, reading, writing. Sometimes, though, she is lazy and does nothing at all. Her books published by Metaichmio include: Do You Speak Plutonian? (Greek Children’s Book Circle Award, Women’s Literary Society Commendation), Human Net (Shortlisted for the State Literary Awards, Shortlisted for the Greek Children’s Book Circle Awards), Letters from Santa Claus (Third Prize, Panhellenic Union of Writers), Liza’s Tower, Flag on the Horizon, Sunday’s Magic, Asim and the King’s Dragon.
