Antonis Argyros

Antonis P. Argyros was born in the village of Spartia in Kefalonia. He graduated from the Law School of the University of Thessaloniki in 1974. His law firm has been established and operating since October 1976. He has been a member of the Athens Bar Association and a lawyer at the Supreme Court of Greece since 1984. He served as Minister of State in the government of the President of the Council of State, Panagiotis O. Pikrammenos, in 2012. Since 2004, he has been a lawyer and Deputy Legal Advisor at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA). From 1990 to 2004, he was the Legal Advisor and Director of the Legal Department at the National Foundation for the Reception and Rehabilitation of Repatriated Greeks (Ministry of Foreign Affairs). He was a member of the Court of Claims for Misconduct (2004-2006) and served as the General Secretary of the Trade Union-Scientific Organization of Lawyers named "Democratic Movement of Young Lawyers" (1985-1989). He was a member of the Supreme Disciplinary Council of Lawyers (2004-2009) and the Court of Article 88 of the Constitution (Salary Court) (2004-2009). He is a member of the Mediators Certification Committee under Article 6, paragraph 1 of Law 3898/2010 of the Ministry of Justice. From 1990 to 1993, he was a Special Legal Advisor to the Prime Minister and the Cabinet on public law issues. He is an arbitrator on the list of arbitrators of the Athens Bar Association and has participated in many arbitrations as an arbitrator and umpire. He served as Legal Advisor to the Council of Rectors of Greek Universities (2010-2014) and was Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Public Property Company (2008-2009). Among his writings are the books: a collective edition titled "Studies on the Memorandum," a study titled "The Privileges of the State and the Law of Necessity in the Rule of Law," pages 303-365, published by the Athens Bar Association in 2013 - Editorial Supervision, "The Legal Status of Repatriates," published by the National Foundation for the Reception and Rehabilitation of Repatriated Greeks, 1996, 2000, pages 418, Athens 1997, foreword by George Iacovou, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, "Fair Satisfaction Due to Excessive Duration of Trials" (Laws 4055/2012, 4239/2014), foreword by Panagiotis O. Pikrammenos - Sakkoulas Publications S.A. 2015, pages 682, and a collective edition titled "Honorary Volume for the 50 Years of Regular Administrative Courts," Sakkoulas Publications S.A., 2015, among others.
