Eyagelia Papathanasiou

She was born in Elassona, Larissa, and grew up in Munich, Germany, where she attended the Private Greek Supplementary School. As a child, she wanted to become an actress but eventually became a teacher, studying at the Pedagogical Academy of Thessaloniki and later at the School of Early Childhood Education in Thessaloniki. When she started working as a teacher, she realized that these two fields were not so unrelated. Thus, she attended the Drama School of the Piraeus Association and participated in numerous seminars on Theatre Play, Theatrical Performance, Dramatization, Puppet Theatre, and Music-Kinetic Education in Thessaloniki, Athens, Germany, and Mytilene. Continuous learning has always been a priority for her. She studied at the Dortmund People's University in Germany for four years as part of the Women's Studies program on Motherhood. She earned her degree from the Pedagogical Department of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Department of Early Childhood Education of the University of the Aegean, as well as a Master's degree from the Sociology Department of the University of the Aegean. For the past fifteen years, she has collaborated as a lecturer and facilitator in various experiential seminars on Theatre Education and Visual Arts with the PEK of Lesvos, the Pedagogical Institute for teacher training on new teaching books, the "Panhellenic Network for Theatre and Performing Arts in Education," and in seminars organized by the Health Education Office of Lesvos and the Health Education Office of Eastern Thessaloniki. She served as the Head of Environmental Education in the Prefecture of Lesvos, where her presentations focused on discovering knowledge through Theatre Play. She believes that approaching learning through Theatre Play and involving children in theatrical performances within the school is part of daily teaching practice, as these activities offer balance, smooth integration, and mental health to children. Writing and storytelling are her other two great passions. In recent years, she has been living and working in Thessaloniki with her two daughters.
