Filippos Peristeris

Philippos Peristeris was born in Athens and hails from Corfu. He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the National Technical University of Athens (School of Applied Mathematical and Physical Sciences, Department of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Law), a master's degree from the National Technical University of Athens (School of Architecture), and a bachelor's degree from the "School of Humanities" at the Hellenic Open University. He is also a certified classical composer and holds a degree in advanced music theory, following studies in piano and accordion, as well as Composition for Theatre and Cinema ("Philippos Nakas Conservatory," "National Conservatory," "Apollonio Conservatory," and "South Eastern College"). He teaches advanced music theory and composition, as well as composition for theatre and cinema music. He has delivered a series of lectures and auxiliary teaching at the National Technical University of Athens, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Department of Music Studies and Department of Theatre Studies), and the Interdepartmental Program of Postgraduate Studies in Theatre and Performance Studies. He has participated in numerous conferences (domestic and international), and many of his articles have been published in Greek and international scientific journals. He is also the author of a book titled "The Black Alphabet of Music," 2016, published by "Quinta." He has been awarded four first-place Panhellenic prizes in the "Makemusic Contest" and the "1st Panhellenic Music Creation Competition - Music Powered by Technology," and received an honorary distinction from the Union of Greek Writers for his musical adaptations of poetry. He has composed symphonic music for small and large orchestral ensembles, as well as chamber music. He has written music for approximately 60 theatrical productions (Athens Concert Hall, National Theatre, Regional Municipal Theatres, and independent theatres), 12 feature and short films, documentaries, music for art exhibitions, and poetry collections, and has over 110 released songs to his credit.
