Kamel Daoud

Kamel Daoud was born in 1970 in Mostaganem, Algeria, and currently resides in Oran. He studied mathematics and literature and has been collaborating with the Oran Daily since 1994, where he has been writing the country's most widely read column for the past twelve years. "The Meursault Investigation" is his first novel. In 2014, it won the Francois Mauriac Prize, as well as the Five Continents of the Francophonie Prize. That same year, the book was nominated for the prestigious Goncourt Literary Prize and won the Goncourt Prize for a first novel in 2015.
