Otfried Preussler

Otfried Preußler (1923-2013) was born in Bohemia and settled in Bavaria in 1949. He taught at an elementary school until 1971, when he decided to leave teaching and dedicate himself entirely to writing. He was one of the most significant and widely read authors not only in Germany but also worldwide. He wrote 35 books, which have been translated into 50 languages and have sold at least 50 million copies globally. He was honored with some of the most prestigious German and international awards.
