Vasileios D. Anagnostopoulos

V. D. Anagnostopoulos, Professor Emeritus at the University of Thessaly, was born in 1941 in Agios Georgios Domokou. He studied Classical Philology at the School of Philosophy of the University of Athens on a scholarship and furthered his studies in Germany. He served as a philologist for 42 years in both public and private education: at the Vellas Ioannina Seminary (1966-1971), in private education (1971-1975), at the Karditsa Nursery School (1976-1989), and as a Professor of Modern Greek Literature (with an emphasis on Children's Literature) at the University of Thessaly from 1989 until his retirement in 2008. His work has focused on educational, social, and cultural issues. He is involved in book criticism, particularly in the research and study of children's literature, as well as in folk tradition and language. He has served as a Member and President of many associations. He has been awarded by the Women's Literary Society, the Circle of the Greek Children's Book, the University of Padova, and many other organizations and associations. His body of work includes over 60 books in his field of expertise, covering language, poetry, children's/young adult literature, education, culture, book criticism, folk tradition, fairy tales, children's books, anthologies, and more.
