Garth Greenwell

Garth Greenwell was born in 1978 in Louisville, Kentucky. He is a graduate of Harvard University and the Iowa Writers' Workshop, and currently resides in Iowa City. He works as an educator, engages in literary criticism, and is an outspoken advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. In 2010, his novella "Mitko" won the Miami University Press Novella Prize and was a finalist for the Edmund White Debut Fiction Prize and the Lambda Award. His short stories and essays have been published in The Paris Review, A Public Space, Story Quarterly, and VICE. His first novel, the semi-autobiographical "What Belongs to You," was longlisted for the National Book Award for Fiction in 2016.
