
Martin Walser
Martin Walser was born in 1927 in Wasserburg and lives on the shores of Lake Constance. He studied at the Theological-Philosophical School of the University of Regensburg, followed by studies in literature, history, and philosophy. He worked in radio and television, won numerous literary awards, and holds honorary doctorates from three German universities. He is considered one of the most important contemporary German authors. Among other works, he has written "Die Verteidigung der Kindheit" ("The Defense of Childhood," 1991), "Ohne einander" ("Without Each Other," 1993), "Finks Krieg" ("Fink's War," 1996), and "Gesammelte Werke in zwölf Bänden" ("Collected Works in Twelve Volumes," 1997). His novel "The Source" was published in Germany in 1998.
