Alexandros Tsichlas

Alexandros Tsichlas was born on February 13, 1976, in Athens. His engagement with the Chinese language began during his university years in the UK, where he had daily interactions with Chinese classmates from Singapore and China, who initially introduced him to the language. He then continued with courses at the Foreign Language Teaching Center of the University of Athens and at Shaanxi University in the historic capital of China, Xi'an. He has also delved into the Analects of Confucius, the history of China, particularly the early empires of Qin, Han, and the Three Kingdoms period, as well as Chinese music and poetry. As a composer, he has set poems from the Tang dynasty to music for voice and piano, and composed the story of the White Snake for orchestra. His interest in East Asia extends beyond China to include Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, and other countries in the region. He is the composer of approximately 800 musical works in classical and world music and is an active philosopher.
