Mary S. Lovell

Before dedicating herself exclusively to writing, Mary S. Lovell was an accountant with a notably successful career. She even founded several companies. In the late 1950s, she developed an interest in vintage airplanes, and over the next ten years, she and her former husband created and operated a collection of old, rare aircraft types. One of these—a D H Gipsy Moth used in the film "Out of Africa"—led her to first hear about Beryl Markham and write his biography, which became a bestseller titled "Straight On Till Morning." Later, she attempted to write the biography of Amelia Earhart, resulting in the study of thousands of documents. Mary S. Lovell is a graduate of New Forest Hounds and maintains a keen interest in horseback riding, as well as sailing and flying. She resides in Gloucestershire.
