Juan Villoro

Juan Villoro (Mexico City, 1956) is a contemporary literary phenomenon and one of the most significant intellectual figures in the Spanish-speaking world. Versatile and prolific, he has been involved in journalism, contributing to the most prominent newspapers and magazines in Latin America and Spain. He has served as a Literature professor at the Universidad Autónoma de México and as a visiting professor at Yale, Boston, Princeton, and Pompeu Fabra universities. In addition to novels, he has written short stories, essays, children's tales, comics, plays, and screenplays. He is a member of the Colegio Nacional of Mexico and has been repeatedly honored for his literary and journalistic work in almost every Latin American country and Spain. The publishing house Candaya (Barcelona) has released "Materias dispuestas: Juan Villoro ante la crítica" in the Ensayo series, focusing on his entire literary work and its impact on contemporary Spanish-speaking authors. Today, he divides his time between Mexico, where he teaches at the Fundación Gabriel García Márquez para el Nuevo Periodismo Iberoamericano, and Barcelona, where he teaches literature at the Universidad Pompeu Fabra.
