Thea Von Harbou

Thea von Harbou was born in Bavaria in 1888 to a wealthy family of noble descent. Considered a child prodigy, she received a special education, studying, among other things, foreign languages and music. After a trip to Africa, she began acting in theater and writing, until, following her first literary success in 1910, she devoted herself exclusively to writing. In 1917, she moved to Berlin, where in the 1920s she collaborated as a screenwriter on dozens of productions with the most prominent directors of the time. In 1922, she married director Fritz Lang, with whom she completed ten films until the rise of Nazism and their separation in 1933. Overall, she wrote 77 screenplays and published 40 books (such as "The Thief of Bagdad" and "The Indian Tomb").
