Stefanos Dormparakis
Stefanos Dormparakis was born in Athens in 1990. He holds a degree from the Department of Primary Education at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and a diploma in Byzantine music. He began his musical journey at a young age, taking lessons in classical piano and harmonium. At the age of fifteen, he was introduced to traditional music and dedicated himself to the kanun. He subsequently attended specialized music seminars with Halil Karaduman, Socratis Sinopoulos, pianist Markos Alexiou, and choir conductor Dimitrios Kanaris. He has collaborated with renowned Greek and international artists, the "Mikis Theodorakis" orchestra, and the Athens Municipal Symphony Orchestra. From 2008 to 2011, he served as a pianist for the children's choir of Saint Basil in Piraeus. In recent years, he has participated in various traditional and art music ensembles in Greece and abroad and has been involved in a significant number of recordings. In 2016, he released his first independent album titled "White Letter," featuring his original instrumental compositions, and in the same year, he published his first book titled "On a Tight String: Pythagoras and the Origins of Music."
