James Kakalios

James Kakalios is a professor of physics at the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Minnesota. His experimental work is in the field of condensed matter, and his research focuses on amorphous and nanocrystalline composite semiconductors, as well as fluctuation phenomena in neurological systems. His efforts to make science accessible to the general public have been recognized by the American Institute of Physics (AIP), which awarded him the Andrew Gemant Award in 2014 for significant contributions to the cultural, artistic, or humanistic dimension of physics. Additionally, in the same year, the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) awarded him the Public Engagement with Science Award. He is the author of the book "The Physics of Superheroes."
