Stella Vogiatzoglou

Stella Vogiatzoglou (1950-2008) was born in Thessaloniki. She studied law at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and worked in various services. She occasionally engaged in advertising and radio. As a writer, she explored short stories, novels, theater, and children's books. She made her debut in prose with the novel "The Water Wheel" in 1980. Since then, she published six more prose books, three plays, a screenplay for cinema, and six children's books, including a short adaptation of the Odyssey for children. She was awarded for her play "To the Health of the Lost" in 1990, which was translated into German and represented Greece in the European Drama Award competition. Additionally, her work "Tsiklintan" was honored by the Ministry of Culture in 1997 and was staged at the National Theatre of Northern Greece. Her writings were published in newspapers ("Ta Nea," "Avgi," "Vradyni," "Aggelioforos," "Macedonia," etc.) and literary magazines ("I Lexi," "Diavazo," "Entefktirio," "Ypostego," "BestSeller," "Roptro," "Paratiritis," etc.). She was a member of the Society of Authors and the Society of Literary Writers of Thessaloniki. Her short stories were translated into German. She passed away in Thessaloniki on August 18, 2008, after a long battle with cancer—an experience that was the subject of "Tsiklintan"—leaving a significant void in the contemporary literary community of Thessaloniki.
