Inger Christensen

Inger Christensen was born in Vejle, Denmark, in 1935 and passed away in Copenhagen in 2009. She studied to become a teacher, with a particular interest in the natural sciences, which influenced her writing. She published her first two poetry collections in the early 1960s. Her first book, titled "Light," was published in 1962, followed by "Grass" a year later. The style of both books is characterized by the modernist language of the era, which influenced many Danish poets. "It," which was awarded the Danish Critics' Literature Prize and the Golden Laurel of Booksellers, was published in 1969 and, according to critics, epitomized her writing and modernity at that time.
