
Viet Thanh Nguyen
Viet Thanh Nguyen was born in March 1971 in Vietnam. He grew up and resides in the United States, where he teaches at the University of Southern California. He has published short stories and also two works on the cultural consequences of the Vietnam War: "Race and Resistance: Literature and Politics in Asian America," in 2002 (Oxford University Press) and "Nothing Ever Dies: Vietnam and The Memory of War," in 2016 (Harvard University Press). In 2015, he published the novel "The Sympathizer," which garnered numerous awards, including the PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction, the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction, and the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2016.
