Timothy Brook

Timothy Brook holds the Shaw Chair in Chinese Studies at the University of Oxford and is the director of St. John's College at the University of British Columbia. He has authored or edited over ten books, including the award-winning "The Confusions of Pleasure: Commerce and Culture in Ming China," which has been translated into multiple languages. He has also edited the six-volume history of China published by Harvard University Press. In 2005, he was awarded the Francois-Xavier Garneau Medal by the Canadian Historical Association, as well as a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2006.
