Ruby Wax

Ruby Wax was born in 1953 in Illinois, USA, to Austrian Jewish parents who fled the Nazi regime. She studied Psychology at the University of California, Berkeley. In 1977, she moved to the United Kingdom, where she studied Acting at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow. She completed her studies in Psychology at the University of Oxford, earning a master's degree in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy. Ruby worked as an actress (including with the Royal Shakespeare Company), writer, director, producer, and television presenter (BBC). A mother of three, she has openly spoken about her battle with depression and her family's history with mental illness. In recognition of her contributions, she was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2015. Her book, "Sane New World," became an international bestseller immediately after its release.
