
Sakis Papadimitriou
Sakis Papadimitriou was born in Kavala and grew up in Thessaloniki. He first published prose and studies on music, and made his initial appearances as a pianist and composer with small jazz ensembles in the 1960s. He composed music for theatrical performances and multidisciplinary events, where his compositions were combined with literary texts, cinema, painting, and dance. He has performed solo piano or with various groups at numerous international festivals. Since 1975, he has been involved in radio broadcasting. Since 1989, he has focused on the relationship between silent films and live music, having scored over twenty films. Together with Georgia Sylleou, since 1996, he has presented programs featuring song cycles and performances centered on silent cinema and the avant-garde movements of the 1920s. To date, eighteen books and sixteen of his personal albums have been published.
