
Yusra Mardini
Yusra Mardini was born in 1998 in Damascus, Syria. From a very young age, she was involved in swimming with the dream of representing her country in the Olympic Games. She was forced to leave her homeland when her family home was destroyed in the war. She is a goodwill ambassador for the UNHCR (http://www.unhcr.org/yusra-mardini.html). "People" magazine selected her as one of the twenty-five women changing the world, while "Time" magazine included her in the thirty most influential teens in 2016.
