Alexandros Raptis

Alexandros Raptis was born in Thessaloniki in 1979. He studied theater at the School of Fine Arts, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (acting direction) and pursued postgraduate studies at the Department of Theater, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He has attended seminars in film and theater, and since February 2006, he has been a member of the Greek Directors' Guild. He has worked as an actor and director with theater groups, as an assistant director in advertising and film, and has directed five short films (twice awarded at festivals) and numerous theatrical performances for children and adults in Athens, Thessaloniki, London, and New York. In 2009, he co-founded the theater group "Hippo" with Fotis Dousos, which is active in adult and children's theater, as well as educational drama. They have toured with their performances in Europe, America, and Australia. Since 2014, he has organized and facilitated theater workshops for children and adults in Greece, the USA, and Australia with his collaborators. In 2018, he conducted a seminar inspired by the personal style of the "kinemo" group for professional actors at "Thespo19," the most significant international youth theater festival in Mumbai, India. He has been a member of the recorded bands Semper Cras and Darnakes. His short stories have been recognized in literary competitions, and he has written scripts, plays, and texts for cinema. His book titled "Cinema and Theater - Shakespeare in the Cinematic Works of Akira Kurosawa" is published by Hellenic Avant-Garde Editions.
