Giorgos Manios

George Manios was born in Votanikos to parents who worked in a tannery. He completed his secondary education in Thiseio and Petralona, small neighborhoods surrounding and beneath the Acropolis. He initially pursued a career as a carpet cleaner, but the profound influence of the sacred rock of the Acropolis left a lasting impact on him. He engaged in poetry and music as a composer and lyricist, describing himself as self-taught and an amateur artist. Over the past three years, he has formed significant collaborations in the music industry. His poetry collection "Journeys of the Mind," published by Angelakis Publishing, marked his official debut in the poetry scene in 2018. That same year, his poems were translated into Ukrainian, published in the Ukrainian press, and featured in the Anthology of Contemporary Greek Poetry, which was presented at the Academy of Literature of Ukraine in June 2019. On September 7, 2019, he had the supreme honor of being one of three Greek poets awarded for their poems at the grand literary festival on the banks of the Dnieper River and at the Kyiv Municipal Library. His second poetry collection, "PTOCHALAZONES AND DEMOKOPOI," is also published by Angelakis Publishing.
