Amos Oz
Amos Oz, perhaps the greatest Israeli author of his time, was born in Jerusalem in 1939. Before dedicating himself to writing and journalism, he worked for many years on a collective farm (kibbutz). He was actively involved in Israel's political life for two decades as a member of various peace movements. He published novels, short stories, political essays, and children's books. His most renowned novels include "My Michael" (the novel that established him as one of Israel's most significant authors), "Black Box," "The Same Sea," "Fima," "A Tale of Love and Darkness," "The Woman I Knew," and "A Night in Tel Kedar." He received international literary awards and peace distinctions, including the Holon Literature Prize and the German Peace Prize in 1992. He lived with his family in the city of Arad, Israel. He passed away on December 28, 2018, at the age of 79.
