Abraham B. Yehoshua

Abraham B. Yehoshua was born in Jerusalem in 1936. He has written plays that have been performed in Israel and abroad, as well as essays and articles on Zionist ideology, literature, and politics. Alongside Amos Oz, he is considered the greatest contemporary Israeli author. His novels have received numerous accolades in Europe and America, earning him international fame and recognition. "The Lover" (1976) has been published in twenty-four languages, and "A Late Divorce" (1982) in fifteen countries. "Mr. Mani" was published in 1990 and won the Israel Prize for Literature. "A Journey to the End of the Millennium" was honored in the USA with the National Jewish Book Award. In addition to his writing career, Yehoshua is an active member of the Peace Movement and an advocate for a peaceful resolution to the Palestinian issue. He currently teaches Hebrew and comparative literature at the University of Haifa.
