Daniel Speck was born in 1969 in Munich and studied Film History in Munich and Rome, where he lived for several years. He is an acclaimed screenwriter and teaches at prestigious film schools in Germany and Italy. He wrote the screenplay for the film adaptation of Jan Weiler's book "Maria, ihm schmeckt's nicht," as well as the screenplay for the TV movie "Zimtstern und Halbmond." For the screenplay of the TV movie "Meine verrückte türkische Hochzeit," he received the Adolf Grimme Award and the Bavarian Television Award. His first novel, "Bella Germania," was the most successful debut by a German author in 2016. In 2018, his second novel, "Piccola Sicilia," was published.
