Alexis K. Pothos
Born in Athens in 1971, he studied classical guitar, earning a diploma with distinction in 1991, as well as advanced music theory, obtaining degrees in solfège, harmony, and counterpoint. In 1989, he was admitted through national exams to the Department of Music Studies at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, from which he graduated in 1991. He then gained admission through national exams once again to the Medical School of the University of Athens. He graduated in 1997 and specialized in obstetrics and gynecology. In 2008, he was awarded a Doctorate from the Medical School of Athens. He taught guitar until his graduation from medical school and has worked as a physician since 1997. He practiced as an obstetrician-gynecologist, initially as an attending physician at the National Health System (Elena Venizelou Maternity Hospital, 2008-2011), and since 2011, he has maintained a private practice in Athens. He also presents his compositions, mainly works for classical guitar.
