
Roy Jacobsen
Roy Jacobsen was born on December 26, 1954, in Oslo. Leaving behind a youth filled with petty crimes, gang involvement, and even solitary confinement, he began writing at the age of twenty-eight. Since then, he has published 22 novels and short story collections and has won some of his country's most prestigious literary awards, including the Tarjei Vesaas' First Book Award, the Norwegian Critics Prize for Literature (Kritikerprisen), and the Norwegian Booksellers' Prize (Bokhandlerprisen). His books have been translated into 31 languages. With "The Unseen," he became the first Norwegian author ever to be nominated for the International Booker Prize.
